Pro Tools 2026.4 is here!
Avid has officially rolled out Pro Tools 2026.4, delivering a massive suite of upgrades designed to speed up session navigation, expand your immersive mixing toolkit, and provide a fresh dose of creative inspiration.
Whether you are editing heavy dialogue for post-production, mixing the next Dolby Atmos hit, or producing beat-driven tracks, this update brings highly requested workflow enhancements to every tier of Pro Tools.
Here is a breakdown of the biggest new features and why you should upgrade your system today.
Faster Navigation: Introducing Track Pin
(Available in all Pro Tools versions)
If you regularly work in sessions with hundreds of tracks, you know the frustration of scrolling vertically and losing sight of your Master fader, your dialogue stem, or a critical VCA.
Track Pin solves this. This powerful new feature allows you to lock the position of one or more tracks directly in the Edit window. As you scroll up and down through the rest of your massive session, your pinned tracks remain frozen in place and perfectly visible. It completely eliminates unnecessary scrolling and keeps your most essential channels right where you need them.

Next-Level Immersive: Dolby Headphone Personalization
(Available in Pro Tools Studio and Ultimate)
Mixing immersive audio on headphones just got significantly more accurate. Pro Tools 2026.4 introduces Dolby Headphone Personalization to improve translation between headphone monitoring and physical speaker arrays.
By partnering with Sonarworks, creators can now generate a custom-measured Head Related Transfer Function (HRTF) using the camera on their mobile phone via the free SoundID Tools app. This personalized profile captures your unique head and ear shape and loads directly into Pro Tools, drastically reducing spatial errors and creating a highly precise binaural listening experience.
Broadcast Ready: MPEG-H Support
(Available in Pro Tools Studio and Ultimate)
Pro Tools is expanding its immersive footprint by adding support for MPEG-H, a rapidly growing, object-based immersive broadcast standard widely adopted across Asia and South America.
With the inclusion of the free MPEG-H Renderer plugin (developed by Fraunhofer IIS), engineers can monitor and deliver immersive content directly within the Pro Tools environment. You can now work with multiple immersive mixes—including options for dialogue enhancement and selectable interactive spatial audio—inside a single session without having to manage separate format-specific projects.
Note: The concurrent EUCON 2026.4 update also brings MPEG-H support to your Avid control surfaces.
Smarter Speech-to-Text Workflows
(Available in Pro Tools Studio and Ultimate)
For the post-production crowd, Pro Tools 2026.4 makes the built-in transcription engine significantly more efficient:
- Render Passthrough: Transcription data now automatically follows your audio when using AudioSuite processing, Committing, or Consolidating tracks.
- Granular Separation: You can now separate timeline clip selections specifically by word, by sentence, or by speaker.
- Hardware Choice: Users can now manually select between CPU or GPU processing for transcription analysis, allowing you to optimize your specific rig’s resources.

New Sounds: Massive X Player & Premium Content
(Available in all Pro Tools versions)
On the music creation side, Avid is bringing Native Instruments' iconic synth engine directly into your DAW. Massive X Player arrives with the exclusive Pro Tools Massive X Essentials expansion pack, perfect for designing everything from aggressive basslines to cinematic pads.
If you are an annual subscriber or on an active perpetual upgrade plan, you will also receive two additional Native Instruments expansions: Lo-fi & Chill Plucks and Haze.
Inner Circle Rewards: Bold New Plugins
(For annual subscribers and active perpetual plans)
Avid is rewarding active customers with two heavy-hitting plugins for aggressive tone shaping:
- Bogren Digital Ampknob BDH III: Get album-ready, high-gain tube guitar tones instantly. This plugin models three variations of an era-defining amplifier with virtually zero setup required.
- Cut Classic Bad Math: An experimental, creatively destructive distortion plugin that blends multiband fuzz and overdrive.
Quality of Life Enhancements
Pro Tools 2026.4 also includes a host of under-the-hood tweaks to improve your daily workflow:
- Batch File Renaming (Studio and Ultimate only).
- Adjustable Grid Lines Brightness and Opacity.
- The ability to Mute tracks during Commit.
- Options to include or exclude comments, Elastic Audio, and ARA assignments.
