Dolby has announced the new Dolby Atmos Renderer, which combines and replaces the Dolby Atmos Production Suite and Dolby Atmos Mastering Suite as the central application of a Dolby Atmos mixing system.
The Dolby Atmos Renderer includes all features from the previous Dolby Atmos Production and Mastering Suites, along with new capabilities like native Apple Silicon compatibility and improved performance. This means that you can create & play back Dolby Atmos master files, used for encoding for final distribution to streaming services or Blu-ray, perform online and offline re-renders, with channel widths from 2.0 to 9.1.6, as well as Binaural and B-format (Ambix). It also includes the Dolby Atmos Music Panner plug-in, Dolby Atmos Binaural Settings plug-in, and Dolby LTC Generator plug-in.
Like the previous Atmos Suites, the Dolby Atmos Renderer works in tandem with your digital audio workstation (DAW) to render your mix to any playback environment, based on the audio and positional metadata you author in the DAW. With the Dolby Atmos Renderer, you can render up to 128 inputs (including audio beds and objects with metadata) to your monitoring configuration, as well as rendering to standard channel-based layouts for both monitoring and deliverable creation. Additionally, it creates the Dolby Atmos master files, used for encoding for final distribution to streaming services or Blu-ray.
Dolby Atmos Renderer will be available soon through the Avid Store, for a price of $299. Existing Dolby Atmos Production Suite and Dolby Atmos Mastering Suite users can upgrade to the Dolby Atmos Renderer application for a one-time $50 fee. When upgrading, you'll need to surrender your existing Dolby Atmos Production or Mastering Suite iLok license via the iLok license manager.
