PMC8-2 Active Studio Monitors - Pair

The PMC8-2 is an active 3-way reference monitor, featuring dual 8-inch bass drivers, a 2-inch soft dome midrange, DSP crossover and EQ, and PMC's patented ATL™ bass loading. With its larger cabinet and huge dynamic range, the PMC8-2 is designed for critical reference monitoring in the most demanding environments, including large-scale scoring sessions and post-production and mastering suites.

Advanced Driver and Amplification

The PMC8-2 delivers phenomenal performance approaching that of PMC's Main reference monitors:

• Bass Drivers: Features a pair of powerful 8-inch long-throw bass drivers for deep, controlled low-frequency extension down to 25 Hz.
• Mid-Range/Tweeter: Paired with the highly accurate PMC 55 mid-range tweeter and a 2-inch soft dome midrange for a revealing mid-range and wide, stable sound-staging.
• Amplification: Utilizes four channels of ultra-low-distortion, high-damping-factor Class-D amplification: HF 400 W, MF 400 W, and LF 2x 400 W (1600 W total per monitor).

ATL™ and Laminair™ Technology

The PMC8-2 employs proprietary acoustic technologies to maintain superb definition, fidelity, and dynamics even at high SPLs:

• ATL™ (Advanced Transmission Line): The precisely tuned ATL cabinet allows the lowest frequencies to pass down a long transmission line, providing smooth and consistent bass response down to 25 Hz and exceptional LF extension with no colorization.
• Laminair™: Visible as the distinctive hexagonal profiling at the vents, this aerodynamic technology produces a controlled, laminar air flow, eliminating air turbulence, and ensuring faster, higher-definition bass with accurate timing and the widest possible dynamic range.

DSP Control and Integration

The monitor is fully configurable using a sophisticated DSP system for precise calibration and seamless system building:

• Networking: Configurable directly via the rear panel or using the browser-based SoundAlign software from a computer or tablet, allowing for control over single or group EQ and settings.
• Crossover: Features a sophisticated DSP crossover, driver protection, EQ, and delay/polarity options.
• Inputs: Accepts Analogue/AES3 digital input (16/24-bit, 18 - 192 kHz sample rate).
• Digital Output: Includes a Digital ‘through’ output (AES3 24-bit 96 kHz).
• XBD System: Can be upgraded through the addition of a PMC8-2 SUB to create an XBD system, enhancing the system’s bass headroom by 6 dB.
• Mounting: Dedicated short (40") and taller (19") floor-stands are available for the PMC8-2 and PMC8-2 XBD systems.
